How to Solve Air in the System/E2 ErrorUpdated 40 minutes ago
If you are experiencing slow or irregular water flow, loud or straining noises, frequent filter cycling, a low water level in the filter housing, or an E2 Error Code on your display, this is typically caused by air entering the system or restricted water flow, it is not a system defect.
When flow becomes restricted or air gets trapped in the lines, the chiller’s safety mechanism triggers an E2 error to protect the internal pump and compressor from running dry or overheating.
Note: If your setup does not use an external filter canister, simply skip any steps referencing the paper filter or air release valve on top of the canister.
Please review the steps below carefully.
Step 1: Check Your Filter Maintenance
A clogged or dirty filter is the most common cause of restricted flow and E2 errors.
Cleaning: Clean both the paper fiber filter and the internal mesh filter every week under clean running water.
Replacement: Replace the paper filter cartridge every 4–6 weeks.
If your filter is clean and up to date, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Check the Filter Housing Water Level (External Filter Users)
During normal operation, it is completely normal for the water level in the external filter housing to sit around 1/3 to 1/4 full.
If the water level drops significantly lower than that, air is entering the system and needs to be purged.
Step 3: Power Off Before Adjusting
Always turn the chiller OFF and unplug it from the power outlet before inspecting, purging, or adjusting any components.
Step 4: Check for Trapped Air in the Hoses
Keep the chiller OFF.
Move and gently lift the connecting hoses while watching the drain valve inside your pod.
If you see air bubbles escaping into the water, air is trapped in the lines. Continue repositioning the hoses until the bubbling stops completely.
Step 5: Check the External Air Release Valve
The air release valve on top of the external filter canister must be fully CLOSED during normal operation.
It should only be opened briefly while the unit is turned OFF to purge air.
Important: If left open while the chiller is running, it will actively suck air into the system, causing shaking, loud straining noises, poor cooling performance, and flow errors.
Step 6: Perform the Internal Venting Step
Locate the bottom-right vent bolt on the lower side of the chiller housing. (Do not loosen the left bolt, as that opens the internal housing shell).
Slightly loosen the right-side bolt to release trapped air directly from the internal housing.
Once water begins to escape, tighten the bolt securely back into place.
Step 7: Inspect Fittings, Connections & Drain Plug
- Drain Plug: Check the small drain plug on the lower side of the chiller. Ensure it is turned fully CLOSED. If even slightly loose, it will continuously draw air into the pump housing.
- Fittings & O-Rings: Ensure all hose connections are hand-tight, O-rings are seated inside the connectors, and Teflon tape is applied to threaded joints if needed to prevent micro-air leaks. Verify gaskets are installed correctly (see installation guide)
Step 8: Reconnect & Prime the System
Reconnect all hoses and fully open both drain valves on your pod to allow water to flow.
With the unit still OFF, briefly open the external air release valve on top of the filter canister until the housing fills to approximately 75%–100% full.
Close the air release valve completely.
Plug the chiller back in and turn it ON.

Important Note
It is normal for the filter water level to lower slightly while the system is running. This does not indicate an issue unless accompanied by noise, vibration, poor cooling performance, drastic water level emptying or errors on the display.
