Why Is my water chiller pump & filter shaking / making a loud noise?Updated 7 months ago
If your water chiller's pump is making a loud noise, it’s often due to air in the system or a lack of water flow. Here's how to address the issue and get your pump operating quietly again:
1. Check the Filter and Circulation:
- First, determine when you last cleaned or changed your filter. Regular maintenance is crucial. For guidance on cleaning the filter, refer to this article.
2. Verify and Fix Connections:
- Ensure all connections are tight and that the white gasket is correctly installed in the filter compartment
- If necessary, use Teflon tape on the connector threads of the transparent filter unit and any other connection thread.
- To apply the tape to the transparent filter cover simply turn it counterclockwise to access the thread, then apply the tape.
- Reconnect everything and open the drain valves
- Open the air vent release valve on the filter until the filter is about 75% to 100% full. This step helps expel excess air from the system.
3. Power Up:
- Plug your chiller back in and turn it on. The pump should now operate quietly once it has a steady flow of water.
